Recommendations made during his tenure influenced the state’s Nonhazardous Solid Waste Planning Act of 1991. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health from the University of Georgia in 1980.

Shelby Lowe

Shelby Lowe has been involved and is well-versed in many facets of the environmental arena since 1976.

He previously owned a solid waste residential and commercial collection company which was purchased by Browning Ferris Industries, a Fortune 500 company, in the early 1980’s. Shelby rose through the ranks of a Fortune 500 Waste Company and became a Regional Vice President over 5 states with annual revenues of $950 million dollars. His responsibilities as a Regional Vice President were transportation, collection, and processing of solid waste, recyclables, medical waste, and managing several transfer stations and landfills.

From his solid waste background, Shelby became a Regional Vice President for a nationally known bio-solids company where he managed several collection companies across the South and West coast including over-seeing land-farming, and processing facilities that processed bio-solids into Class A material for fertilizer. Shelby assisted in building the company revenues to over $350 million and aided in selling the company to an investment group in Washington DC.

His last endeavor before becoming a consultant for EBS was managing several transportation companies and processing facilities to recycle fatty oils and industrial waste water for a fast-growing liquids company. During his tenure as a Regional Vice President with the liquids group, he developed an organics program for one of the largest retail store chains in the United States to transport organics to compost sites and/or for animal feed. It was a tremendous success and the nationally known retailer has expanded the organics program to several other states.

Shelby earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Louisiana State University.
